Kingfishers and Kookaburras Screensaver presents images from Richard Bowdler Sharpe's ornithological book, Family of Kingfishers, published from 1868 to 1871. Only two-hundred copies of Famiy of Kingfishers were ever printed. It is extremely rare. Richard Bowdler Sharpe began work on A Monograph of The Alcedinidae, or Family of Kingfishers, when he was 17 years old. John Gould supplied specimens for the work, and John G. Keulemans, the extraordinary Dutch wildlilfe painter and illustrator, drew the 140 kingfisher plates included in the book. Keulemans was highly productive and reliable. For 30 years he produced more bird paintings than any contemporary, published in over a hundred major bird books and journals. Sharpe was a long time friend and collegue of John Gould and carried on the publicaton of Gould's unfinished works after Gould's death. xp-AntiSpy 3.96-5 Beta
The xp-AntiSpy is a little utility that lets you disable some built-in update and authentication 'features' in WindowsXP.
For example, there's a service running in the background which is called 'Automatic Updates'. I don't know what this service transfers from my machine to other machines on the internet, especially the MS ones. So I play it safe and disable such functions. If you like, you can even disable these functions manually, by going through the System and checking or unchecking some checkboxes. This will take you approximately half an hour. But why wast time when a little neat utility can do the same in 1 minute?
This utility was successfully tested by lots of users, and was found to disable all the known 'Suspicious' Functions in WindowsXP. It's customiseable, but comes up with the Default settings, which are recommended.
Changes in Version 3.96-5:
"In the last time, many mails reached me asking about the xp-AntiSpy and its compatibility to Windows Vista. I do not have the time to answer them all, that's why i post a little update in here.
Since Vista keeps compatible to xp i do not have to rewrite the xp-AntiSpy, but there are indeed some changes.
At the weekend i had the chance to test the xp-AntiSpy on Vista. I also had the time to apply some changes, so the xp-AntiSpy would run also correctly on Vista.
